The Jaipur Literature Festival is all set to shoot it’s missile of literary events and ideas on 25th January, 2018 at Diggi Palace Jaipur. This five-day festival will end on 29th January, 2018 but the thrill which is about to come is unimaginable and brings one memorable experience. Jaipur Literature Festival is celebrated with much zeal among the Jaipurites, from famous poets to film stars there is a lot to witness this year.
Apart from that, what makes it more interesting are the heritage events which will take place at Jaipur Literature Festival. It will host two glorious events against the backdrop of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage.
1. Under the stars at Hawa Mahal
The ‘greatest literary show on the earth’ invites you to The Troth – Usne Kaha Tha. It is a dance and theatre performance by Akademi which will narrate the story of love, loss and sacrifice behind the background of the horror and conflict during World War I. Inspired by the classic, black and white era of the old times, this event will capture you in its idea with the phenomenal combination of dance and music. It leads the audience to the ancient Indian silent cinema which came into existence in 1913 and will re narrate the story with the use of film and subtitles.
It will be held on 26th January, 2018 at Hawa Mahal, Jaipur and the show will begin from 7:30 PM. The entry to this event is through invites only.
2. A majestic evening at Amber Fort
Jaipur Literature Festival will host another iconic event at Amber Fort, commonly known as Amer Fort. There will be two parts of the event, first is the Sarangi Maestro Ustad Kamal Sabri and the other one is known as Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.
• The Sarangi Maestro will be presented by Shabana Dagar, The Dagar Archives.
Ustad Kamal Sabri is the musically gifted son of of sarangi legend Ustad Sabri Khan Sahab and represents the seventh generation. From an experienced accompanist to a famous soloist, Kamal Sabri has worked with musical legends like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Hossam Ramzy and etc.
He has also won the title of Best Instrumentalist by the Indo-Western society of music.
• Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi
It is a tribute to the ghazal maestro, Jagjit Singh by Shekhar Ravjiani. Shekhar Ravjiani is an Indian singer and composer who is mainly known for his works with his partner – Vishal Dadlani. This show was first organised in Singapore in 2016 at the Esplanade Concert Hall and it received a standing ovation and great response. The cherry on the cake element of this concert is that some accompanying musicians have worked with Jagjit Singh at some point of time.
The event will be held on 28th January at Ganesh Pole, Amber Fort. It will start from 7:30 in the evening and entry to this event is by invite only.
